Rod Chaney was born in South Boston, Virginia. His wife, Gayle, is from Atlanta, Georgia. They have five children. All of which are a handful.

Rod earned his BS in Psychology from UT Chattanooga and a Master of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas.
